Learn and Earn with Core Scholars Foundation

Financial literacy among young people has been a subject of concern and study in many countries. The level of financial literacy can vary widely based on factors such as educational programs, cultural practices, and individual experiences, especially amongst families below the property line.


Core Scholars Foundation has made it their commitment to help bridge this economic divide through the RISE Financial Literacy Scholarship! This need-based scholarship awards students $2,500 in scholarship dollars in exchange for completing Financial Literacy Training. Financial literacy includes understanding basic concepts related to budgeting, saving, investing, credit, and financial planning.


Both high school seniors and current undergraduates can take advantage of this powerful opportunity to learn and earn! The RISE Financial Literacy Scholarship also has open enrollment for potential candidates on a rolling basis!


Eligibility Requirements include:

  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

  • Applicant must be a Philadelphia resident.

  • Applicant income must not exceed $200% of the poverty line

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, or current full time enrolled student in a college, university, trade school, or qualifying 2 or 4-year degree program.

Program Requirements include:

  • Must be enrolled full time in a high school, college, university, or trade school

  • Must complete the CORE RISE application online.

  • Must complete 8 units of FDIC financial literacy units (online) as part of the application approval process.

  • Must participate in at least two CORE financial literacy training workshops.

  • Have a minimum outstanding balance of $2500 in eligible unpaid costs of attendance.
